I knew Julie and her then husband when they pastored our church, and became aware of her difficulties, mostly when they had to resign. I spent more than a year praying for their daughter Faith for healing from cancer. In fact, it was that prayer time which gave me the habit of daily prayer that I maintain until this day. Many of the details in this book I never knew before, although I knew enough. I have always held Julie in high regard, she and her parents have always been special to us. If this book doesn’t give you hope, nothing will. She has lived through incredible dark times and rises up through the power of God’s restoration and love. I couldn’t stop reading until the end, and wished that the book didn’t have to stop. Her story is such an inspiration of hope and forgiveness.
Julie does what many are unable or unwilling to do: peel back the layers of protection and privacy and give us a glimpse of the pain and suffering she endured in a marriage filled with secrets. Anyone who has gone through (or is currently in) an abusive relationship or one of infidelity will find hope and comfort in her story. No one is beyond help, no one has to endure this and there is always hope in Christ, if we truly trust Him. Thank you Julie for being vulnerable enough to share your story. I am sure it will be a blessing to many.
Julie’s account of her journey from a life built on a firm foundation to a life filled with pain and heartache to finding peace and thankfulness is a testimony of God’s grace and never ending love. Excellent book!
