Postcrossers and space junkies will love this set. With 100 cards to chose from (and there's maybe only dozen here that are duds) you're spoiled with options. The images are crisp and the color is quite good. Of course, some are awfully dark--this is outer space and all--but unlike a few other space-themed cards I've purchased, you don't have to squint to wonder what you're looking at. Nebulas, planets, stars...everything is here and it's all luscious. Thanks, NASA!I withheld a star for some piddly issues but nevertheless must mention: At 3-3/4" x 5-1/2" these are undersized compared to the standard 4-1/4"x6" most postcard people prefer. But if mailing domestically, these easily qualify for the current USPS postcard rate. The card stock is quite thick and I'm confident they can safely traverse the rigors of postal machines/international travel. However, my cards all have a 'lip' at the edges--a sign of a dull edged or poorly functioning machine blade...this will vary by set, I'm sure, and is likely testament to how nice and thick of cardstock was used, but handling these cards reminds me of the homemade slice jobs I achieve when using my cheapy scrapbook paper cutter.The backsides are just shy of a true matte, they're only very lightly coated but choose your pen wisely to prevent smearing. In some cases the informational blurb, over the message side, is quite long and detailed; these are already undersized, you can't be long winded. Write tiny!A very economically priced set that comes in a 'collectible' high quality cardboard book-style box containing the 100 unbound cards. A handy key to the acronyms used by the Agency, glued to the bottom of the inside of the box, makes traversing the shorthand (IDA=International Docking Adapter) both easy and educational.

Came when they said they would.This is not a flip book that you tear the cards out of, they are individual cards with hard edges. They're made out of very sturdy card stock and feel nice to the touch. Standard postcard size, these are not the oversized ones you sometimes see. On the back of the card there are concise descriptions of each individual card, and otherwise its blank space without lines for whatever you want.There are 100 of them in the box as it says, 2 of each image. And they are just stunning, beautiful images. Closeups of planets, stars, nebulae. The images are not glossy like a photo would be at say CVS or something, and I have not noticed any blurry postcards. They come inside this nice fat little box to keep them from bending and getting ruined. They look like they'll stand the test of time and are worth every penny. 5 stars for real, I just love them and can't wait to send them out.

Pictures are great, but the paper is not. Wash your hands and dry them completely before handling the postcards (or better else use gloves!😆), or take them bu the edges only.Now I need to find how to clean my fingerprints from the cards.Paper quality is close to the thick card stock, no gloss finish.

Bright, crisp, mesmerizing - these postcards are almost too nice to mail! They are made with decent paper stock, easy to write on, and standard USPS postcard size. I found a box at a museum, so was thrilled to buy a second box for about the same cost here on Amazon. I encourage everyone to support local museums, of course, but have to admit that for a second box of postcards that are out of this world - Amazon was closer!

Great postcard sets and I have many. Images are beautiful. The only complaint is the size is average and the quality is ok but could have been exceptional considering the images. Outside that a great deal and fun fun

I've never read a voice like this--not because of the style, though. Yes, the writing is good and beautiful in parts, but if Hemingway really did say that Markham was a better writer than he, I disagree. For me, the complex long sentences tripped over their own feet at times, overextending metaphor where Hemingway's simplicity would have done better. No--it was the workings of Markham's mind, her philosophy and decision process, that I found truly incredible.Paula McClain's book Circling the Sun is a fictional memoir of Beryl Markham, and West with the Night is her actual memoir. I wondered at first why McClain would choose Markham of all people to fictionalize, when Markham had already spoken for herself in this memoir. I was almost irritated. After all, Markham is dead. She can't speak up and say, "that's not how it happened. Read the book I ALREADY WROTE if you want to know." Now that I've finished West with the Night, I understand why Mcclain wanted to write Circling the Sun.Markham writes about how she came to hunt with the Masai tribe as a child in Africa, and how she came to love and train horses (when there were no other women doing it), and how she came to fly planes (when hardly anyone, let alone women, was doing it), but she dwells not at all on her personal relationships or feelings, which for the curious reader should provide context and explanation of Markham's unusual talent and viewpoint.She writes more about the moody, wise, indifferent nature of Africa than she writes about her own feelings. We have no idea, for instance, what it felt like when her mother left Markham and her father to return to England when Markham was four years old. You don't even know from West with the Night that Markham's father practically forced her into marrying an older man at the age of 17 because her father was moving and didn't know what else to do with her. These events undoubtedly shaped Markham's courage and ambition, but West with the Night doesn't tell us how.West with the Night is the end result of some strange fomentation within the person of Markham. She writes without arrogance and with plenty of humor about all of her 'firsts.' To Markham, they were simply good ideas. She cared nothing for, or even seemed to think about at all, what other people thought of her. She moved in circles that other women never entered, and was treated as one of the boys. In making life decisions, like the decision to move to Britain, for instance, she was pointed solely by the needle of her own compass. She was happy flying and scouting game in Africa, but wondered what she might be missing. So she moved. Apparently, men followed her. I admit to my morbid curiosity on this point, and I may read Circling the Sun for McClain's take on the other parts of Markham's life.On the other hand, I may not read it. Markham's critics accuse her of not writing her own memoir (it's too good, they say, to be written by her), and of being a home-wrecker. Her critics look for opportunities to criticize her, for of course she is too unbelievable to escape jealousy. Our curiosity about Markham's personal life shares also this unbelieving desire to justify, to show how the rest of us may have gotten from Point A to Markham's Point Z if only we'd been born into similar circumstances. Really, all you need to know is that she did these things, in spite of fear, and did them well. She was luminous and rare. You can sit back and be inspired by her story without having to justify, explain, or otherwise take away from its magnificence by delving into a personal life she preferred to leave private.

West With the Night is a marvelous auto biography of Markham's time in Africa. She was raised on a farm by her father who bred race horses, and became quite an accomplished trainer and horsewoman herself. Since the road system was deplorable or non-existent in the 1930's, small planes delivered the mail and other essentials, and she trained to be a pilot. She conducted groups of hunters on safari, helping them to locate big game, especially elephants which were difficult to locate in the vast areas of Africa.Her crowning achievement was a solo flight from Europe to Newfoundland, 3600 miles, 2000 of it unbroken ocean, in a small plane with no radio and no electronic guidance systems. She had to let the engine die to ensure that she had completely consumed the fuel in a tank before switching to another tank and restarting the engine! It was an astonishing accomplishment for any pilot, and the first time for a woman to make such a solo flight. She writes with such intensity of the details of the 1936 flight that you feel like you're in the plane with her, gripped with the suspense and surrounded by the black night.Markham's writing is beautiful and at times poetic, especially when she describes the landscape and inhabitants of Africa. She lived in the wonderful era described so gorgeously in "Out of Africa", and even knew some of the people described in that book. She lived another 50 years after this magnificent feat, and I wish she had been convinced to continue writing.

Neither had Ms. Markham until one day, there she was, a British child--an only child--in the highlands of Kenya, her feet at the starting line of becoming the amazing woman she would become. To read this is similar to watching a time-lapse photographic record of an exotic flower bursting into bloom--all the more fascinating because the subject isn't a simple flower but a human being. By doing, one becomes!The story culminates in an epic, trans-Atlantic flight, but along the way it reads like a marvelous bed-time story--the kind that the Aesop's Fables author might have written if he had lived in Africa, observing human and animal nature in an era that feels farther removed from today than a mere century should seem.I enjoyed three things about this book: the beautiful language with which it is written, the observations of a world I will never see, and the affirmation that yes, it is possible to become all that one might be if only one takes that first step and then the next and the next.

This book is excellent and I am so happy I bought it. The author provides step by step directions with color photos for each step that make it easy to understand and follow, without skipping any of the steps. She provides tips along the way and covers handling the clay, sculpting the clay, painting and finishing techniques. I wish all instructional art books were in this format. All the writing is clear and precise for easy understanding. I can't wait to give it a try and how this is going to expand my sculpting and painting. It's so well done that even a complete beginner will be able to do it. The author also offers short video clips on her website if you bought her book that have been great to watch. I love it, and I am so happy the author is sharing her knowledge about this art technique with clay.

Although I had trouble with the first order of this book going astray, Amazon corrected the problem and had another copy sent within 2 days. Bravo Amazon. I truly enjoyed this book. The instructional order is reasonable, from simple to more complex designs. The author covers the topic from how to handle the clay, the proper tools, selecting and preparing surfaces, curing, paints, mediums, glues, finishing, framing etc. She also gives a very good lesson on color selection and the uses for opaque and transparent paint applications. I don't want to give anything away, but the instructions on surface preparation and clay handling are worth the price of this book.

I love this book! The instructions are clear with photos showing every step through each project. I have completed almost all the exercises in the book and progressed to some original work, which is exciting since I am not really an artist. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in working with paper clay, no matter what level.

I had never thought of using paper clay to create a bass relief effect. While my style is not the same as the authors, the pictures are inspiring and the process is clearly described. The techniques used to create detail reminded me of leather tooling. The projects start simple and increase in complexity.

This book is packed with techniques, photos of completed work and step-by-step process, attention to detail, love of the craft, and INSPIRATION. A new world to explore. Thanks to Rogene for sharing her creativity and her talent.

This book is wonderful if you want to explore Paper Clay as an art medium. Step by step instructions and excellent photos show the way. Highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book. The chapters are written in clear, concise language that is easy to understand. This is the book to go to if a person is interested in using paperclay in this way.

4 AND 1/2 STARSThis collection by hardcore writer Wrath James White is exactly what you expect and it succeeds on every level in every way. It's over before you know it and you will find yourself gritting your teeth, frustrated that it has come to an end so quickly. The stories move at a fast pace and are very different from each other, so you will always be entertained. The writing is easy and smooth, but at times, overly graphic to a point where I found myself laughing out loud, and even texting friends certain passages from the book to try and shock them. That was a lot of fun!Wrath blends horror and eroticism with equal measure in this book, and people not used to extreme stories might want to stay away. However, if you are interested in this subject matter or have prior experience with Wrath in the past (or authors like Edward Lee or Bryan Smith) you will be in hardcore heaven. Highlights for me include, "Like Peyote For Pimps", "Nothing Better To Do", and "After The Cure". I did feel like Deadite Press could have added a few more stories to the collection, but for what is there, it still remains high on my list for a top 10 release in 2011. The cover, by artist Suzzan Blac, is one of the goriest I've seen in years.

Here lies a small collection of very short stories that indeed are pretty graphic. The author doesn't pull his punches when it comes to gore.Unfortunately, there is little beyond the gore in most of these stories. Character development is hit or miss: The hits are a great talent for giving you a real feel for the character(s) using very little (Like Peyote for Pimps, Feeding Time); the misses are where he seemed it wasn't worth bothering (Rottweiler, House Cleaning).This isn't really horror in any traditional sense. Little attention is paid to atmosphere. There's no forboding. It would be better to think of these stories as "gore fiction" rather than horror.Mr. White should also do a little research when a story touches on a subject he's apparantly not very familiar with, which may grate on some readers. For example, in my favorite of this collection, Feeding Time, there are several references to lion anatomy as being "hairy." In under 5 minutes on Google you can find out that a lion's penis is not hairy (OK, I admit, the story made me have to look it up). Also, nor are they huge. And to add insult to injury, although the human mind and body can suprise with their capacity to keep going, ***** SEMI-SPOILER ALERT ***** I strongly doubt our lion-obsessed woman would have been able to do what she did in her final moments, given the fact that she was half-eaten by then.This was certainly worth reading once, with interesting concepts and, of course, blood and guts galore; but all but one or two of these stories would have benefited from being longer. I mean that in the sense that they are genuinely underdeveloped, not that I was simply yearning for more. Then again, that's what reduces this to three stars for me. The stories are simply too brief, almost rushed, and there is great but unfulfilled potential for most of them to show more depth. There isn't a single subplot in the whole collection, mainly because no story leaves room for one, rushing as quickly as possible to the conclusion.More attention to story would have gone a long way with this collection. If it was 200 pages total, it would probably be absolutely awesome.

Wraith James White’s creative mixture of violence and deviant behavior is absolute reason for exploration and discovery in this fearless imaginative genre. With this collection Wrath James White peels back the scabs on modern society to reveal the raw, seeping putrescence underneath. This is not comfort reading or something to unwind with after a stressful day; this is an unflinching portrait of mankind at its lowest, which White bravely and accurately details with painstaking precision.In ten stories and two poems White presents enough murder, necrophilia, sexual extremism, and self-mutilation to reel the mind of the average reader (though it's a safe bet anyone opening this book's beautifully grotesque cover can't be considered "average") with his no-holds-barred, striaght-to-the-gut style. Happy endings are few and far between in the world White depicts, yet he often gives us an understanding of people and places we'd never dare visit on our own.PSYCHOS comes in at a mere 87 pages, though after ingesting the stories within it becomes apparent that the abbreviated page count is an act of mercy (one of the few offered here). The book can be a bitter pill to swallow, but as life often teach us, the most valuable lessons are the most painful.

Like Porno For Psychos lives up to its name with no problem. And that cover? Go ahead and judge the book by it because it's exactly what you're going to get. Erotic horror with some truly gruesome and disgusting stories told in a very descriptive voice.I enjoyed this collection as it was my first from Wrath James White. But my main annoyances were that each story was basically the same. It was either a sexual act that ends in extreme violence or a sexual act that happens because of extreme violence. Most of the stories read like pure exposition, but some of his shorter, flash pieces were standouts. I definently want to read some of his longer work in the future and I'd recommend this to hardcore horror fans, but it's not a favorite.
