This book, Seven Ox Seven, Part Two, is a follow-on to Seven Ox Seven, Part One. Part Two was okay, but not as good as the Part One. The main drawback to Part Two is the drawn-out discussion regarding evolution. You can essentially skip pages 55-108 (one fourth of the book) and the story is fine. If it weren't for the extended discussion on evolution, I would have given the book five stars.

Liked it but hanging at the end, you do not know what is happening next.Wished it was more pages.Didn't start out how I thought it would after the first book.

I love this story. Interesting and exciting!

Bought part two to finish the story of the part one book, which this book doesn't do. A very good build up in the story only to be left hanging.

Riveting and extremely well researched. Only disappointment was that I didn't realize it was part 1 of the trilogy. Just got the second installment!

I was really looking forward to this book after waiting so many years. What a disappointment!!!! Out of 198 pages, 75 were discussing opinions of Darwin vs. those of Mivart. While that may be interesting to some, it is totally out of place in a western novel. The premise and presentation were lame at best. The first book left many unanswered questions. None of them were answered in this sequel, and many more were added to the list. This series is getting no where, and I doubt if it ever will. (Assuming Ritzer ever gets around to writing part two of volume two, since it took him 7-8 years to write 198 pages.)My opinion is, don't waste your time with this one. There is very little plot development here.

Since I knew I was reading a ghost story, I quickly suspected that Sissy was the ghost. But the author still kept me engrossed waiting to find out how she became a ghost and if she'd been truly murdered by Ali's Aunt and Mother, or had it been an accident. Most of the time I was annoyed by Sissy's behavior, but I sympathized and sort of liked her by the end of the book. I really liked how history repeated itself with the canoe, but luckily, it turned out okay. The setting was mostly dark, rainy, and chilling, which was a perfect setting for the creepiness the author wove. My only disappoinment was that Ali's Aunt and Mother never saw Sissy, not even in the end.

I read books I am giving our grandchildren to make sure they are appropriate. Mary Downing Hahn is one of our granddaughters' favorite authors and this is one of three I've read in the past week and they all were dark, stark and stressful until the very end of the book. By then, it felt like the author could not adequately redeem the plot. I suppose we compare everything to Harry Potter now and nothing seems to measure up. You just don't get connected to and captivated by these characters.

I loved the entire book and nothing was bad. I recommend this book to readers who love ghost stories or people who have lots of emotion. I think it deserved 5/5 stars because it was sad and scary at the same time, it was VERY HARD to put the book down.

I have grown to LOVE Mary Downing Hahn's books, but this was a miss for me, which was disappointing. The story was slow and at times, I wasn't even sure if I even wanted to finish it. Still love this author, but I didn't enjoy this book.

I was reading this book with my 12-year-old granddaughter. We were both drawn into the book because we were trying to figure out just who this "Sissy" character/person was. One night after reading several chapters together, I fell asleep. The next morning I was surprised that my granddaughter read on ahead because she just couldn't stop reading! Now that's my idea of a good book!!!!

This was a Christmas gift received before Christmas and the recipient loved the book. It was read in one sitting.

  Dale Earnhardt Jr. is an American professional stock car racing driver, champion team owner, businessman, and television analyst for NBC Sports Group. Even those who've interviewed Earnhardt haven't succeeded in truly understanding who he is, what motivates him, and what he's endured. And that's what makes "Racing To The Finish" such a remarkable and refreshing book.What Earnhardt and ESPN's Ryan McGee have accomplished here is an honest and humble depiction of perhaps NASCAR's biggest name. It would've been easy for Earnhardt to write about his entire career from start to finish, his victories on and off the track, and to put a smiley face on the way his career ended. But, as Earnhardt himself says in the book, that isn't this story."Racing To The Finish" focuses almost exclusively on the most difficult chapter of the driver's career from 2012 through 2017, when a series of concussions began to catch up with him. It almost reads as a confession of sorts, an explanation for why things played out the way they did. He expresses regret over not telling those close to him about the effects he was feeling, goes moment by moment through his recovery, and clears up several misconceptions about his recovery and his decision to ultimately step out of the driver's seat. He even provides notes he kept to himself as he tracked his symptoms, described with such detail that it will get the reader to examine his own motor functions.Contrary to what one would expect from a book by a NASCAR driver, this is less of a story about the sport and more about today's understanding of concussions. What was most surprising was the revelation that there is a whole body of medicine geared toward overcoming concussion symptoms, that they involve exercises and training instead of invasive surgery, and that these methods are becoming more effective as the years pass. This was fascinating in light of the ongoing issue of CTE in the NFL, and the high-profile tragedies of players like Junior Seau. This makes Earnhardt's story even more of an inspiration, not simply to race fans, but to those dealing with similar conditions - there is help, and people should go and seek it.By the end of this book, you will understand as best any of us can the pressure Earnhardt felt to perform, and why he had to do what he did those final six years in elite competition. I left with an even greater respect for the man, and his bravery in sharing this story with others. Couldn't recommend it more.

You don't have to be NASCAR fan who's followed Dale Jr. The entire time he raced to love this book. He tells his story to you so you understand why he retired. I saw and witnessed the crashes, I was always so scared for him, hoping he'd be okay. If he stopped racing after his father passed no one would of blamed him, but he kept going. For the race world then himself. But to kept racing feeling so badly shows his love and passion for the sport. To bring awareness to head trauma so others can find help. As a avid horseback rider in my youth competing in barrel racing ,I took some nasty spills. I struggled in school a lot and makes me wonder if maybe that was the reason? Makes a lot sense now and luckily I don't have any lasting effects. But if I had gotten a proper exam then maybe my high school days wouldn't of been so rough? The book makes you really look back in life and go maybe if? The importance of not waiting, to get help and admit. This ain't right.Dale Jr. I have always been your fan and always will be. In or out the car your a class act. I'm proud to wear your number. Always will be. Happiness always.

This book is a humble and honest insight into the life of an individual who has likely carried more fan expectations than anyone in sports. There may be certain personal benefits in telling of certain events that had not previously been told but it is clear this is not the intent of this book. The story reveals Dale's considerable growth as a person and the acceptance of responsibility in using his talents to help others. All the best Dale, on the next Chapter!
