Bought for my son to study. Great format for teens that need study habit tips!

Was a little hesitant to buy this book because of the price, but I'm happy to say that it's worth the added cost. Lost of helpful content and examples.

I've never been a great studier, so I needed something to keep my attention and really help me learn the material. I had taken the test previously and didn't do too well. With this study guide, I feel like I am able to really understand the material better and feel I'll have more success on my second try. It might be a small detail, but the color print outs in the book really were a nice touch. It made the book more interesting when reading through the pages, charts, and graphs. So glad I found this book!

I finished eight years ago and pursued my degree is social science. When i want to join military, i realize that all military branches required every applicant to pass ASVAB test. I have discovered around on the web and on Amazon. I finally came across this book. I spent 2 weeks studying this book and do extra practice via some app on Apple store. After all, I hit the AFQT score. Thanks to this book for helping me reviewing what i used to learn and it's very similar to what came up during CAT ASVAB.

If you desire an easy learning tool this is it. It offers quick and easy tips up to details on everything ASVAB. The volume of content is not overwhelming but it does offer extensive material for you to get the best learning experience. The quality is really great and easy to understand especially if TESTS are NOT your thing! :P The questions are not overwhelming although I do recommend taking breaks to make sure you can soak it all in and prepare yourself better! It's not a ‘let’s read through it all in a couple days’ kind of book. You will want to take your time! The layout isn't overwhelming either and overall, it's a great tool to have to prepare for the battery! The pre-test is the best part; it helps you understand how it would go and what you might need to work on!

I'm a big fan of the method of studying this book taught me. Most study guide can teach you the subject or help you devise a specific test-taking strategy. What makes this particular study guide so unique, in my opinion, is that it actually shows you the best way to study. The authors give you a plan and a method to continually be evaluating the quality of the time you put in. It's not always about the quantity of the hours of preparation, it is often more about the quality of those hours.

Great read! I originally bought this as a study guide but after reading a couple of pages.. I was hooked! I was able to read through the whole book quite well and easily. I usually don't study such a book as much either. The book is thorough and detailed while fun for the reader.Delivery was by Amazon Prime. It was quick and packaged nicely.I couldn't expect any better. Thank you! Best of luck to those on their ASVABs.

Probably the best aspect of the book is the study system, however I have really appreciated how the book breaks down topics into different categories. I wish my other textbooks and study materials broke down the different categories within for example, Algebra.It is nice to see Education being done so effectively

I stuck around because there was a story within this story that drew me in, beyond the typical teenage angst romance- the hoarding mother, the OCD dad, the way they enabled each other within a hugely unhealthy lifestyle that crippled their kid’s emotional growth... Why? How would things change? Was the dad secretly the true hoarder blaming his wife? But ...nope. No explanation or exploration of the sub theme that dominated the entire story between the two main characters. Then there were all these characters whose stories were hinted at throughout the story, but though she made you curious about them, the author never developed them fully, or brought any kind of closure. The best friend, the cousin, the brother... in the end they only served as props to the main characters. It left me feeling like there were all these people I was supposed to care about, but then- they faded away from the story without explanation.and that epilogue? That hasty attempt at an ending to a story that wasn’t even fully told? Sigh.The writer had potential and her style was definitely there, but I feel like poor plot development and characterization undermined her best efforts in the end.

This is a good read. I LOVED the contrast between the main characters and how opposites attract. As well as the fact that 2 people who care for each other can both have completely different points of view without either being wrong... The people are believable and like able. AND I am a sucker for happy endings...

I don't know how she does it, but Chris Cannon always manages to write a book that sucks you.I relate so much to these characters!The story was sweet with some real life problems thrown in.I cannot wait to see what's next!

DNF at 35%I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.Bookish girl, Harry Potter references, and a neighborly romance--all things I thought I would love about this book. However, everything felt forced. The quips and snarky comments, the conversations between Nina and West, and even the Harry Potter references themselves. At one point West compares Nina to Luna Lovegood, but it just doesn't make sense.I love that Nina was confident and always wanted to tell the truth regardless of the consequences, but she was also incredibly pushy. She threw her thoughts and opinions around like no one could possibly feel differently. It was like she was too perfect at times. She never argued with her family, always did her chores without complaint, constantly thought of others, and even played matchmaker.I'm not sure I've noticed this with other books, but the author never actually explains what the characters look like (at least not during the 35% I read). This doesn't necessarily bother me, it's just something I noticed. I know some people enjoy thorough descriptions.In the end, I didn't feel like there was a natural flow to the story. It seemed to jump around, and at times was even hard to follow the thoughts of one person. It also felt like they tried too hard to be "bookish". They share a backyard and a driveway, but on the surface, not much else. When an upcoming Valentines Day dance forces Nina to dodge her brother's friend and West to evade his ex-girlfriend, they tell their prospective dates they're going with each other. This launches a tentative friendship that becomes something more. Nina and West both have troubled pasts that interfere with their ability to be completely open with each other. But instead of this turning into one of those, "I wish they would just talk to each other," stories, their secrets and half truths are plausible and heart wrenching.PlotThe plotting is well done with just the right amount of drama and angst. Nina and West navigate what it means to be in a romantic relationship while their respective family issues play out around them. Both feel helpless about their situations, which leads them to make choices they may not otherwise make.The CharactersI absolutely adored both Nina and West. Nina's constant need to debate everything and her brutal honesty made her lovable instead of annoying. She sees the world in a positive light, a "glass is half full" type. West's need to move far away from home as soon as possible is utterly relatable. Both characters experienced growth through the book, but West, more so, although I would argue he had more to overcome. Their relationship felt so authentically teen, without a lot of unnecessary drama.Top Five Things I Enjoyed About THE DATING DEBATE1. Playful banter. Rather than the debates causing endless fights, the arguments between West and Nina were more flirtatious than not.2. Honesty. This concept seems simple enough -- always tell the truth -- and yet it is fairly foreign in most contemporary romances. This review applies to the Audible unabridged edition. Robin Bailey reads this story with a hint of villianous egotism inside a sense of humor. As for AG's detection club claiming she didn't play fair with who she designated as the murderer, this is addressed in the film, "Murder by Death" by Neil Simon. In fact, she did play fair by allowing the reader (listener) to have almost every clue. Murder on the Orient Express is my favorite Christie film, but this audio version is my favorite.

Even if you're not really an Agatha Christie fan, you should read this one. Christie is criticized as a literary light-weight. It's true that her characters are formulaic, but she wasn't really interested in characters. Her specialty was intricate, multi-layered puzzles and no one did them better. This book and AND THEN THERE WERE NONE are her trickiest and she spoke of both as her most difficult to "pull off" effectively.I can't say much about the plot without giving away the secret, but it's easy to see why this book caused such a stir and why it continues to be so controversial among fans of classic British mysteries. Some of Christie's colleagues at the Detection Club accused her of cheating, but she stoutly maintained that all the clues were there. I think she's right and the book is even more fun to read the second time to see what you missed on the first reading.In addition to the tricky plot, the book is of historical interest in other ways. It introduces a character that Christie DID care about. The narrator, Dr. Sheppard, has a nosy, bossy older sister who plays a pivotal role in the story. The author claimed that Carolyn Sheppard was based on her own grandmother and great-aunt, both important figures in her childhood. They were women who appeared to be sheltered and ignorant and yet they were shrewd judges of character and (through gossip and their servants) they knew everything that was going on around them. A few years later, this character would emerge as Miss Jane Marple and the books and stories that feature her are my favorites.This book also appeared at a pivotal point in Christie's life. Her first book (THE MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR AT STYLES) was published almost by accident and led to the novice author signing a publishing contract which netted her very little money. She lived up to her obligations, but switched publishers as quickly as possible and made damned sure to be well-represented in the negotiations with her new publishing house. Mrs. Christie may have been shy and unassuming, but she knew her own worth and she wanted to profit from her successful books. "Money, it means much to me and always has done" says Hercule Poirot and the character speaks from the author's heart.This was her first book with her new publisher and (partly because it was more effectively marketed than her earlier ones) was her most successful to that date. It was also the last book she wrote before her beloved mother died, her first marriage fell apart, and she became a public figure in a most unpleasant way. She would never again be the confident, trusting young woman who wrote this book, but she learned from her mistakes and (eventually) went on to even greater success and personal happiness. Good for her.

THIS REVIEW IS SPECIFIC TO THIS VERSION. The book I received was not the book that I thought it would be. First, the cover itself looks like it was made on a personal computer, the picture is stretched so its blurry, the main character has a hole in his head which you can tell is not suppose to be there and the authors name which is originally printed at the top is cut off. Perhaps the worst part is the back cover switches between telling two different plot lines, like wtf? The inside is printed like a school book with the print being extra large and all spaced out. I don't wanna read it because I'm picky about my books and I wouldn't be surprised if there were errors throughout the whole book. What a disappointment!!

The release of a new film based on Agathe Christie's much lauded mystery was what drove me to read the novel. I recommend the book without reservation. This paperback edition has nice sized type and spacious line spacing. It is also the previously mass-marketed version; on bookshelves now is the current reprint with the cast of the Branagh film on the cover. The story is a quick yet engrossing read. Spoil alert: do yourself a favor and read the novel before seeing any of the filmed versions. Knowing what happens from seeing the film quite diminishes the fun of figuring out the who-done-it along with Poirot. N.B. Of the three films based on Christie's novel (the most recent directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh; the 1974 version starring Albert Finney; and a made for TV production from 2001 with Alfred Molina as Poirot [which I have not seen]), I think the award goes to the Finney. Both Branagh and Finney's films are very good, but Branagh makes some small changes that really didn't make any sense. Besides being more faithful to the book, Finney's performance of the revelation of the murder is more powerful. Still, the greatest pleasure is reading the book.

This is the worst publication I have ever seen. The book looks like a bootleg type copy. There is no copyright in the book. The text is broken in really odd places. I am surprised Amazon would even sell this.

Agatha Christie at her best! I am an avid Marple & Poirot fan, but I had never gotten around to reading this particular Christie novel. Since buying this book, I've tried four of Jeni's recipes: Goat Cheese and Roasted Cherries, Salty Caramel, Darkest Chocolate Ice Cream in the World, and Buckeye State. Perfect results with all of them! Just follow the recipe, and you really will get Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream at Home.Before getting started, I'd recommend reading the first chapter of the book with Jeni's notes, tips, and explanation of the science behind making a great ice cream. As far as equipment goes, you'll need an electric ice cream machine (Jeni uses the Cuisinart Ice-20), whisk, 4-quart or larger pot, 2-3 mixing bowls, gallon size ziploc bags, ice cream storage container, parchment paper, and a big bowl for creating an ice bath. Other tools that comes in handy: a knife for chopping up larger ingredients, cherry pitter if you plan on making anything with cherries in it, digital kitchen scale, and double boiler for melting chocolate. You'll want an extra freezing canister if you plan on making more than one batch a day. For cooking the ice cream mixture, Jeni recommends a 4 quart pot, but I've been using a 6-quart stock pot and couldn't imagine anything smaller. When boiling your cream mixture, it could easily boil over, if your pot isn't big enough.Basic Ice Cream Ingredients: you'll need heavy cream, whole milk, cornstarch or tapioca starch, sugar, salt, cream cheese, and light corn syrup/glucose syrup. Each recipe will also call for different additional ingredients like vanilla extract or beans, chocolate, natural peanut butter, spices, honey, nuts, liquor, etc. As with all cooking, the better the ingredients: the better the product. Buy organic ingredients and non-homogenized dairy products if you can, and splurge on the "good" chocolate...all this effort deserves the good chocolate!Ice Cream Storage: I have tried three different storage methods. Reusable gladware/tupperware containers are ok, but I had a couple crack and shatter after freezing, leaving all the ice cream exposed to air. Specialty containers like the ones sold at designer kitchen supply stores are good, but I didn't want to spend $35 on a container, especially when I like to keep several flavors on hand. My favorite containers have been the disposable cardboard containers by Sweet Bliss. The Plain White Quart Size Frozen Dessert Containers fit one Jeni's recipe, or you can divide it between 2-3 Pint sized containers. Great for home storage and transporting (in an iced cooler).It's been a blast to make all these great recipes, and I fully intend on cooking my way through this whole book! The recipes are well written and easy to follow. The photography is beautiful, and you get a good feel of what the finished ice cream is supposed to look like. Jeni lists her preferred suppliers if you want to use the exact same ingredients (I've found similar replacements at Whole Foods or the local farmers market).One note: the "Salty Caramel" recipe has one small typo. The ingredient list calls for vanilla, but it's not listed in the recipe instructions. I added it at the end before mixing the cream mixture with the cream cheese mixture.7/9/11 - One more note: there is another typo in The Milkiest Chocolate Ice Cream in the World recipe. It should read 1.25 cups of heavy cream instead of just 0.25 cups of heavy cream. I've heard that these typos will be fixed in the second edition which will be printing soon!

Five stars for Jeni and her wonderful recipes that give home made ice cream that ice cream parlor texture and for her unusual flavors. She deserves 500 stars for that.HOWEVER, the person who designed the book is either an imbecile or hates people who cook. The ingredient lists are in low contrast, pastel colors that can barely be read against the shiny white paper. All the text is in a sans serif font, which is more difficult to read than a font with serifs. And much of the text is in grey instead of black, that also makes the text difficult to read. And tiny. Really tiny. Does the person who designed the book realize people who cook like to keep cookbooks a distance from what they are cooking to prevent damage to the pages? Such distance requires large, legible text that is easy to read instead of pale, thin colored letters that require one to hold a book with sticky hands and squint. Such a pity.Kudos to Jeni for her fine work, but I hope the book designer gets fired for not understanding that the minimum requirement of book design is to make the text legible.

Just watch the last three rounds of the fight and you tell me if this was a thrown fight. Fair or not, this one seemingly innocuous passage, lost total credibility of the author for me. I paid for this book and now regret it. If you want good stuff on Liston from credible sources (though you may no agree with everything they write) read William Nack' SI piece, Nigel Collins' Boxing Babylon or The HBO documentary on Liston. Tosches may have done some incredible research here, but I don't view him as a reliable source.

I personally enjoyed the book. I have never read anything about Sonny Liston. I remember the fight that made him champion and the fight where he lost the title and the one with the phantom punch. Since reading the book. I checked out his fights via youtube andgained clarification about him. He was the best in the world in his prime. His life outside the ring was the thing that killed him withe public, The political Powers in the U.S.A.,and his backers Truman gibson,Frankie Carbo,Blinky Palermo who began to lose money on him by quashing scandals,getting him out of jail and etc. He was his biggest enemy and it was understandable when his backers gravitated to the up and comer Cassius Clay who provided a better image for boxing bought him three months before the championship fight in February 1964 and forced im to give up the title. He under better circumstances would have crushed Cassius clay but had lost his enthusiam by fight night. He was not the same fighter that was shown in the youtube clips,he did try to blind Cassius Clay when his handler put liniment on his gloves almost causing Clay to quit. Nick Tosches is a wannabe. A fellow who tries too hard to be a tough-guy New York scribe, a hard-boiled Jimmy Breslin been-there badge-out type, who uses too many gratuitous obscenities and throwaway racist insults. A guy who writes in his own cover-blurb bio that he was "schooled in his father's bar...and his poetry readings are legend." Give me a break. He wastes a lot of over-research trying to set a dark mystical ambience for this Liston bio, so we get pages of pseudo-Joseph Conrad stuff about Dahomey slavery and Mississippi Choctaw, boll weevils and a 5th century bishop. Show-off meaningless riffs on Janus the god and Aristotle on slavery. Of course, this from a guy who thinks Aristotle is a "pillar of Judeo-Christian thought". Who gives us three pages on the history of slavery as he contemplates Liston's condition like he would his own navel. Yawn. And then a bunch of hard-guy talk about God's "white a**" and racist nonsense from an oh-too-black white guy, despite his comment that Liston was remarkably free of racial prejudice.Finally, about fifty pages in, we get to Liston and his boxing career. If you've made it this far, you can make it to the end. Tosches' research has yielded infinitely more about dozens of long-forgotten hoods than about Liston himself, what he thinks, what he says. The fights are barely mentioned at all. But just when Liston's life gets interesting, Tosches lapses into another unreadable passage about wind and blood and incomprehensible tough-guy jargon that must pass for profundity at Toshche's `legendary' poetry readings. He twice mentions, apropos of absolutely nothing, that Joe Kennedy earned dirty money, calling JFK "the brat offspring of a criminal fortune". Wha? Why is that here? It doesn't even rhyme with the line before it.He has lots of unsupported conspiracy theories. "America did not want Sonny as her champion", the Black Muslims "got to Sonny", this after earnestly explaining that "Islam was a religion of slavery" (p.217). Finally, with no evidence except his own attitude, he opines that "to accept the premise that Sonny was murdered is, by necessity, to accept the involvement and the malfeasance of cops in that murder." Um, ok, Nick.Strangely enough, the book is not an utter failure. Sonny Liston as a character is so outsized and compelling that he manages to seize the reader's interest in spite of Tosches' very best efforts to reduce the story to nonsense. It's hardly recommended, but if you find yourself on a deserted island with it, and you tear out the first fifty and last ten pages, well, the rest of the book would be passable with some judicious editing.

Tosches, regardless of whether or not it was accurate, paints quite a picture with his work. One of his theses is that Sonny Liston was always the sharecropper's kid, even as a successful boxer. That's why, in Tosches' view, Sonny wouldn't have had difficulty doing what he was told from "the man."Maybe, maybe not. In any event Mr. Tosches covers the events of Sonny Liston's life. This book has no light spots, really. It's all medium gray to black. Maybe it's this perceived lack of contrast that irritates some readers. Maybe that's the way Sonny Liston's life really was.The Liston that Tosches leaves us with isn't particularly likeable, but somehow you end up feeling something for the man. In the end, I get the impression from Mr. Tosches that he's telling us that Sonny was our creation, that we made him. To that degree, perhaps we deserved some of the unpleasantness that came from the sad boxer with the massive hands and the pile-driving punch. And, maybe, to that degree Sonny was a victim.I'd give the book a 3 for substance and a 5 for style. Guess I'll settle for a 4. And "settling" is pretty much what Liston's life was about.

This was an excellent bio by a fine writer. At times I thought he swayed from the subject of Mr. Liston and lost his clear and consice voice, but these instances were relitvely rare. I reccommend this anyone who enjoys bios and excellent writing.

Love is really becoming a power to be reckoned with. Older is doing all he can to make her life miserable. Sophia is so cute. Glad Luv is helping Stephan. So many exciting things happening in this story.

Have read all three books so far. Great concept, story development. Great reads. Really looking for next books! I'm starting to tell my friends.

I love these quirky characters an Awesome flowing story. When I first stumbled across these books I was thinking, hmm talking cat; can't be that bad then. Then I truly fell in love. Can't wait for the next one to come out.

First: Happy International Women's Day! Second: If you are looking for a great series to read in commemoration of this day, then you should the Liv Beaufont series! It has everything you are looking for in a easy, quick lighthearted read with a powerful and hilarious woman at the forefront. Liv Beaufont is courageous, street-smart, and funny. She doesn't take crap from anyone, and because of that, she often finds herself in the most bizarre situations, especially now that magic is involved.This book is my favorite so far out of the 3, and fortunately, because Sarah Noffke is writing like crazy you don't have to wait long for the next book in the series. Here are my pros and cons:Pros:1) The characters are great. Liv is personable and hilarious, along with her sarcastic lynx and witty banter between friends.2) The world-building is cool. I love the idea of the fae running Las Vegas - makes perfect sense to me. The Councilor-Warrior dynamic is interesting, but I am also a little confused: Liv's parents were the Beaufont Councilor and Warrior, but then it went to the eldest brother and sister. It seemed like the other families are also made up of brothers and sisters, so that made me wonder...Are Liv's parents siblings or what, were they from separate families? Was it a married into the role sort of thing, like a monarchy?3) The mystery is slowing gaining force, but the Beaufont family seems to have moved on pretty quickly from the sadness of their older brother and sister and parents dying in a relatively short time-span. And honestly, in their line of work, it is SUPER suspicious 4 people have died in that family - why aren't the other families questioning or thinking about it?4) The action is great, the plot moves quickly and each time a book ends you are satisfied, yet also want more.Cons:1) The prologue of each story has the bad guy doing something nefarious, but it isn't really tied in well to the rest of the story. Whatever the bad guy is doing, you don't see it play out yet. For example, brewing an evil potion, but in the book we never see who the potion is meant for. The mystery might be addressed in the later books, but at least a portion of the mystery should be solved at some point, not just more clues or hints at evil work at play.2) Description of characters. I'm having a hard time picturing Rory and some of the other characters because they haven't been physically described. Fortunately, it hasn't taken away from the story because their actions and words are very much well-described. Right now, I'm sort of picturing Rory as a larger, more rugged, Jason Momoa with kittens and a frilly apron.3) I'm a romantic at heart, so eventually I would like Liv to stop pushing everyone away and fall for someone like Rory or Stefan. Or at least bring in some love to the story besides friendship and family. Personally, I loved the banter between her and Rudolf, though they would never work well together.Anyway, I'm loving these books and I hope more keep coming!

This 3rd book in the series just keeps getting better and better! Liv takes on assignments dealing with the Queen of the Fae, Demons, and the tenacious evil elf from the History Museum caper. Liv must now take Akio up on his offer to help her with combat training. Liv describes Akio as “fluid like water and unrivaled in his ability. “ That same statement brilliantly describes the flow of action, interactions, and quick witty repartee throughout this series. Kudos to Sarah and Michael for an enchanting, delightful Warrior, the Unstoppable Liv! Be good to yourself, settle into a comfy spot and read this AWESOME series! You deserve it!

Every book Sarah writes seems better than the last. How she keeps up this momentum is mind numbing. So far this is my favorite of the 3. The humor is never ending, with Liv's quick wit and fascinating side characters. The dialogue is cheeky and always has a funny note or a point. No long internal dialogue that gets old fast and no ridiculous scenarios that make you roll your eyes. Liv is a great heroine and I wish I could weild magic just to be able to eat 4000 calories a day as Liv must so I don't get to thin. I simply can not wait for book 4 and hopefully even more there after.

Another fun story featuring Liv Beaufont. I enjoyed many of the characters we previously met, especially John, Rory, Rudolph and Sophia. In The Definat Magician Rudolph plays a larger role in helping Liv with one of her cases and we learn more about Warrior Stephan. I feel like we are closer to learning what happened to Liv's parents, and I love how we slowly learn more about them as we learn about their interactions with the magical world. Liv shows the Council what she is capable of. I'm looking forward to seeing what she has for us in book 4.

Even before the first book was released in it, I was eager for this series, since in my opinion Sarah is an incredible writer. I am thrilled to say that, so far, it has exceeded my already high expectations. The third book in the series, this book was just fun. The over arching plot was advanced, and Lib kicked ass! I loved how she basically conned the Queen of the fae into decreeing exactly what the Council wanted, before she was ever asked.I wait anxiously for book 4.
